Tutorial Description

A Data Governance program is supposed to set up accountability for the management of your organization's data assets, but how do you determine who does what? How do you scope the roles and tasks appropriately? Failure to answer these questions appropriately can sink your Data Governance program almost before it has begun. In this half-day tutorial, you will learn:

  • The key responsibilities of a Chief Data Officer (hint: it may not be what's written in your organization's job requirement for the position);
  • Data steward tasks throughout the data lifecycle and data owner responsibilities (even if your organization doesn't like and doesn't use the term "data owner" their responsibilities don't go away!);
  • What a data curator is and why your organization needs them;
  • The key stakeholders in your organization outside the formal Data Governance program and how to engage them in maturing the data culture of your organization.
