Course Description
Data Governance programs can fail because organizations are reluctant or slow to adopt the new policies, processes, and standards that are inherent in any new Data Governance program. Many times, this occurs because it is believed that the organization must acknowledge it is important. While this may be true from an executive level, the success of a Data Governance program is at the operational level. If Change Management isn’t proactively addressed, adoption of the Data Governance processes and standards will not occur.
In this course we review the basics of Organizational Change Management and how it applies to a Data Governance program. We review why change is difficult and how resistance appears, as well as techniques for handling resistance. We cover the importance of executive sponsorship and techniques for identifying and engaging an executive sponsor, as well as broader leadership alignment and stakeholder engagement techniques. Using specific examples, we discuss the importance of communication and best practices for how to make it both effective and efficient.
