As organizations continue to invest in advanced data capabilities, they struggle to capitalize on the promised improvements in operations, customer satisfaction, and competitive edge. While 92% of CFOs surveyed by Gartner in 2022 indicated that they plan to increase investment in information technology, however, most will start with the technology implementation while ignoring the imperfect data flowing across their ecosystem.
For organizations aspiring to be data-driven, this approach is particularly devastating. Nearly half of all AI projects fail. From inaccurate insights to regulatory risk, organizations are exposed to new and increasingly costly consequences.
Take, for example, the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. As hospitals around the globe were inundated with sick patients, the AI community rushed to develop models to help hospitals diagnose and triage patients faster, bringing much-needed relief and support to the front lines. However, these predictive tools failed to deliver on their early promise. Some AI tools were potentially harmful. Many of the problems were traced back to the poor quality of data used in developing and training these tools.
In this talk, we will:
1. Discuss key challenges that must be addressed to realize a return on investment in AI
2. Identify key failure points in the AI journey
3. Highlight characteristics of organizations that have successfully adopted AI capabilities
