
The past two decades have seen an explosion both in the volume of data we use and our understanding of its management. However, while techniques and technology for manipulating data have advanced rapidly in this time, the concepts around the value of our data have not evolved as fast. In this presentation, I propose a paradigm shift in methodology for organizations to properly appreciate and leverage the value of their data, detailing a new concept and framework for understanding and quantifying any organization’s data.

Speaker: Caroline Carruthers

Caroline is an award-winning data expert and co-founder of global data consultancy Carruthers and Jackson. She was one of the first women to take on the role of Chief Data Officer in the UK public sector for Network Rail and has worked across multiple industries to build data capability from the ground up, delivering real change to each organization around how they value and use their data as an asset. Caroline is a best-selling author of four books on data and co-wrote the first book for Chief Data Officers. Amongst Caroline’s awards, she was named one of the top 20 inspirational female role models in data by The Female Lead and won Computing’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2020. She has regularly appeared on BBC TV and Radio as well as in national press and other publications commentating on data-related matters.
