
Petrobras’ Data Governance Office has been working for the last three years on how to expand a data-driven culture and create an engaged network of data advocates and stewards. Our model aims to improve data quality, data literacy, metadata management, and analytics solutions within a federated data management model with a strong and active presence of the business units.
Petrobras is a publicly traded corporation operating in an integrated and specialized manner in the oil, natural gas, and energy industry, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro and founded 70 years ago. We have more than 45 thousand employees and were ranked #181 in the most recent Fortune 500. Petrobras IT department manages more than 3,000 applications and almost 500 databases with several petabytes of transactional, dimensional, and streaming data.

Speaker: Arthur da Cruz Barbosa

Born and raised in Brazil, Arthur has a degree in Computer Science from UFRJ (Brazil's first and largest university) and has been working since 2008 with data solutions in Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned oil company, with over 45k employees. Currently works as an Analytics and Data Governance Manager for the Logistics division and has been responsible for its Data Management, Governance, and Integration Plan.
Speaker: Marco Aurelio de Carvalho Paiva

Marco comes with over two decades of experience in IT, always in data-centric positions, such as Database Administrator, Lead Data Architect, Technical Project Lead, Manager and Director, leading data management/governance practices in the organization. He has worked in the government, insurance, banking, mobility, software, high education, consulting and travel industries in large scale organizations such as ICBC, HSBC, Capgemini and Telecom Italia Mobile. He further holds a Master's in Computer Science and is PMP certified. Marco has also spent time working as a professor and was the Information Systems academic department chair.
