In today's data-driven business landscape, organizations face numerous challenges in managing and leveraging their vast amounts of data. Especially for multi-company groups, where data is generated from numerous sources and departments, implementing a robust data catalog becomes imperative.

Lufthansa Group has implemented a company-wide Data Catalog as a centralized inventory for data discovery, data accessibility, and the assignment of business context to data. In this session, the challenges encountered in the implementation phase, including, for example, the complexity of Lufthansa Group’s data landscape, or the reluctance of individuals to assume stewardship for their data assets, are discussed and their resolutions presented. Furthermore, lessons learned regarding stakeholder management and expectation management are shared. Both factors are considered crucial for the successful adoption of a data catalog in a multi-company group.

After completing her PhD in theoretical physics, Anna embarked on a data governance journey with Lufthansa Group. As a Data Quality and Governance Manager, Anna is responsible for the configuration, population, and rollout of the Lufthansa Group Data Catalog as well as for the general rollout of data governance processes and policies throughout all of the organization's subsidiaries.
