We have shifted our focus from governing data when an initiative is complete, to beginning data governance during the design phase of the software development lifecycle. We walk with our development teams to ensure that governance is baked into the plan, not an afterthought. We determine the level of governance that is needed for new data products during design. This ensures that the development teams are not surprised by our governance requirements, reducing remediation and improving the quality of the data products from their inception.

• Change management for both the Data Governance team and the other impacted groups

Speaker: Christina Burnett

Christina has over thirty years of experience in consulting, data modeling, software integration, analysis, and programming. She came to Data Governance late in her career, but having a data-centric view of software has been a common thread throughout her work. Her software development background has given her a practical perspective on how to work with software development teams to improve Data Governance outcomes. Christina has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Houston, and an M.S. in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the University of Washington Bothell. Christina is certified as a Collibra Expert Level 2.
