Getting attention and traction around the work needed for an active data governance program is challenging. The presentation will explain how Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has established a Data Impact Assessment tool and process to ensure data needs are considered at the onset of any new initiative. This is a proactive approach to Data Quality that triggers several activities around the data lifecycle management.
In addition, IRCC has established a data quality assessment process to assess current data holding and identify areas where data quality is poor. This aims to improve data quality at collection through new requirements and identify areas where business processes are not yielding anticipated results. The presentation will speak about the overarching approach IRCC took and add concrete examples of how this translated into action and business intelligence.
