In 2017 FINRA launched our homegrown Universal Data Catalog with no formal data governance organization, no data stewardship program, and no requirements for teams to onboard their data. To aid in our mission of market integrity and investor protection, the UDC team trained, encouraged, and empowered data stewards across the organization, but all efforts were entirely voluntary.
We presented our initial efforts and plans at the 2018 Enterprise Data World conference. Now we’re back to tell you how we did and how the results are feeding into our newly launched Data Management and Governance Office (DMGO).
