DGIQ-EDW26: The Semantic Layer Is Now Critical Infrastructure - Here's How to Build It Right the First Time

Gartner predicts that by 2030, universal semantic layers will be treated as critical infrastructure alongside data platforms and cybersecurity. For most organizations, that future is arriving faster than their architecture is ready for it.

The problem isn't definition. Teams build glossaries, map KPIs, and document business terms, then watch them decay the moment data sources change or new AI use cases get added. AI agents inherit stale context. Metrics drift. Governance exists on paper but not in practice.

In this session, Actian shows how to build a semantic layer that works at enterprise scale. Through real-world scenarios, you’ll see how a contract-first approach — combined with automated context and conversational analytics — connects definitions, lineage, ownership, and quality signals to every answer.

Attendees will learn:
  • How data products and contracts make governance enforceable at the source
  • How to maintain consistent definitions as data and AI use cases evolve
  • How to deliver trusted, explainable answers through a governed conversational analytics layer
