Data governance sounds technical (and it can be) but it is also a practice that relies on strong human relationships.

• When done well, data governance builds and sustains human relationships in ways that improve an organization's work and culture.
• In turn, strong human relationships facilitate effective data governance in ways that benefit data users and stakeholders.

This presentation will examine the similarities between strong data governance and strong relationships and explore several case studies within a government agency.

Gwen has 10+ years of experience in data governance in state government and at nonprofit organizations. In her current position, she leads data governance and privacy at the state education agency for the District of Columbia. When not working, she hikes, practices yoga, and visits many farmers' markets across the city.
