Data lineage seems to be included in nearly every modern data stack tool today, but enterprises aren't biting. Many enterprises today still produce lineage through manual processes and (bad) in-house tooling that (according to our interviews) often costs $1M+ per year to operate. Why hasn't this problem been solved yet? Because getting lineage right in "Legacy Data Stack" environments really sucks. In this talk, Kyle Kirwan—CEO and cofounder at Bigeye—will review what about enterprise lineage is so damn hard, why so many enterprises spend so much doing it poorly, and what solution patterns actually do work in production.

Speaker: Kyle Kirwan

CEO, Bigeye

Kyle has been the Chief Executive Officer of Bigeye since he co-founded it in 2019. Previously he led a team at Uber that solved observability problems for their data team. He was one of the first data analysts at Uber, and he launched Uber’s data catalog, Databook, as well as other tooling used by thousands of their internal data users.
