Rebooting Data Governance - Pragmatic and Practical Experience

Data Governance is a notoriously difficult initiative to get right in a single pass. Oftentimes, Data Governance leaders inherit the smoldering remains of a previous attempt at Data Governance and attempt to rebuild the initiative from the ashes. Common culprits include a lack of adoption or engagement, a lack of clarity on the purpose or value, or a lack of formal champions or sponsors. Often, it's a dynamic combination of all of these shortfalls...and then some!

In this session, I'll discuss the process we used to reboot Data Governance and reengage. Topic areas include:

  • Identifying core data governance needs
  • Identifying and engaging with key stakeholders
  • Revising and communicating the data governance value proposition
  • Iterative approach to building competencies, capabilities, and confidence
