Course Description
In this course, you will learn some of the adjustments and shortcuts that can be used for large schema (consisting of 500 database tables or more), which take too long to reverse engineer using the usual techniques. The course concludes with 10 suggestions that you can use in your own projects, including tips for getting started and special issues to consider.
Purpose
Examine the special techniques required of large schema, and present actionable suggestions for DBRE projects.
Outcome:
- Think in terms of time-boxing reverse engineering so that the benefits justify the expended time
- Understand the techniques of core Database Reverse Engineering, and follow the example using erwin or the example using ER/Studio
- Understand the technology of DBRE and how it fits into the software lifecycle
