Course Description

This course walks you through the various steps of analysis recovery, which include removing any remaining design and implementation artifacts, eliminating or clearly marking redundant information, indicating software “debris” from previous releases, removing modeling errors, and cleaning up the final model to improve its readability, extensibility, and expressiveness.

Purpose

This is the third and final step where we uncover the conceptual intent behind the database.

Outcome:

• Be able to think abstractly and see the data model underlying a schema
• Recognize specific issues such as software evolution, genericity, and subtyping
• Follow the example using erwin or the example using ER/Studio
